Despite sweeping multiple awards and being hailed as the biggest winner of 2023, many players of “Baldur’s Gate 3” have yet to pass the first chapter, according to foreign media reports. Data from the Steam achievement list shows that only 50.4% of players have earned the “Taking It Slow” achievement, indicating they completed the first chapter. Many players seem to have stopped playing early in the game.
Developed by Larian Studios, “Baldur’s Gate 3” infuses traditional RPG gameplay with many new elements. The game won five awards at the Golden Joystick Awards, including Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, Best Game Community, PC Game of the Year, and Ultimate Game of the Year. Additionally, it secured six awards at The Game Awards (TGA): Best Performance, Best Community Support, Best Role Playing, Best Multiplayer, Players’ Voice, and Game of the Year.
According to a report by Automaton, the achievement rates from both the Steam and PS5 versions suggest that many players have not yet completed the first chapter of “Baldur’s Gate 3.” The game, which uses the 5th edition of “Dungeons & Dragons” as its core framework, successfully integrates TRPG (tabletop role-playing game) mechanics into its design, making it a top choice for many veteran D&D players.
Despite the game’s numerous accolades, nearly half of the players have not passed the first chapter. On Steam, the achievement rate for completing the first chapter, “Taking It Slow,” is 50.4%. On the PS5, the achievement rate is even lower at 42.1%, indicating that even more players have not completed the first chapter.
